Solo jazz, also called authentic jazz, is solo dance where dance movements from the 1930s and 40s are used, strongly inspired by Charleston and tap dance. Dance groups at the time performed both solo dances and couple routines, and it was also common to see both on the social dance floor.
Authentic Jazz and Solo Charleston are an absolutely indispensable part of Lindy Hop, and all the well-known routines such as Shim Sham, Big Apple and Tranky Doo are built up with steps from these dances.
Bårdar Swing Club currently offers two different levels. See further below for a level breakdown and description. The courses are held in Norwegian or English, depending on the participants and instructors.
