Jazz Festival in Oslo!

Helgen 10. og 11. juni arrangeres endelig JuniJazz og LindySeilas! Jazzentusiasten Felix Berghäll (SE) kommer for å instruere sammen med våre kjære Charlotte Skajaa (NO) og Silje Lien (NO) fra Bårdar Swing Club. Det blir jazz for alle nivåer; for deg som vil lære deg ditt første jazz move og for deg som har flere års erfaring og strever etter perfeksjonisme. Det blir fest på lørdag kveld på BLS hvor vi danser alle klubbens danser (lindy, boogie, balboa og jazz, selvfølgelig!). Etter jazztimene på søndag setter vi kursen for Oslofjorden for LindySeilas, en uforglemmelig ettermiddag på seilskipet Helena. Vi koser oss med deilige reker, og dansing til live musikk!
Det er mulig å bare delta på JuniJazz, LindySeilas eller festen på lørdag. Vi håper selvfølgelig du blir med på alt! Merk av datoen i kalenderen med post-its, markeringstusj og klistremerker!

Welcome to Oslo, June 10th-11th for the annual jazz festival, JuniJazz! The jazz enthusiast Felix Berghäll (SE), along with our very own Charlotte Skajaa (NO) and Silje Lien (NO) will be teaching jazz for all levels. There will be a dance party on Saturday night, with music of all dance styles (lindy, boogie, balboa and of course, jazz!). Sunday evening we set sail on the Oslo fiord with the sailboat “Helena”. On board we promise live music, dancing, and a lovely shrimp buffet. It’s possible to sign up for only jazz classes (JuniJazz), the sailboat event (LindySeilas) or the Saturday party. Of course, we hope you will sign up for everything we offer!

Teachers
Felix Berghäll (SE)
Felix is a swing dance instructor, performer, choreographer based in Stockholm, Sweden. Like any other swedish dancer he started in the swedish competition scene. He started at the age of nine and with bugg as his main style. One year later he took his first basic six count step in Boogie Woogie and has since then never stopped. At the age of 16 he made his first visit to Herräng Dance Camp in Sweden and fell in love with the African American social dances of the swing era such as Lindy hop, Vernacular Jazz, Charleston and Tap. He has since then tried to inspire and learn everything that he can and develop his skill of dancing, music and teaching. He wants to pass on this knowledge to people all over the world. He is a strong believer of the freedom and the authentic style of the dance and the connection you create with your partner and the music. He sees swing dancing as a way to bring people together and bring happiness in to their life. Because when he dances that’s is all he can think about and express. Pure happiness!
Charlotte Skajaa (NO)

Charlotte loves jazz-music and she loves to dance to that music. She is inspired by old clips to find nice movements. She especially enjoys the slightly strange or playful movements. Charlotte has a background in ballet and contemporary dance and with that she has an eye for the technical finesses of Authentic jazz. Being challenged by the music and dance drives her forward and she loves to keep developing. As a teachers she is kind and caring but she also expects hard work and sweat from her students. Teaching jazz gives her more joy than most things and you will often find her in an ecstatic mood during and after classes.
Silje Lien (NO)

Silje has been swing dancing since the age of 4, but didn’t discover the joy of lindy hop until she moved to the big city of Oslo in 2007. A few years later, she also discovered authentic jazz. Since then, it has become a passion for her and she couldn’t possibly imagine her life without swing dancing. She loves to be playful with her lindy hop and experiment with whatever the music tells her to. Silje has been teaching regularly for the last 7 years, and her classes, both lindy hop and authentic jazz, contains of three main ingredients: fun, technique and getting sweaty.
Travelling around Europe, she has entered and placed in several international competitions, both solo and as a part of The Norweegies.
Still, she is at her absolute happiest when she’s dancing to great live music on the social dance floor.
The band
The natural born lovers har smeltet unge og gamle hjerter med sin musikalitet og sjarme fra første spillejobb på Grølvika Badehotell, den gang under ledelse av den legendariske sangerinnen Malla Beite. Som kjent ble Malla igjen i Grølvika (der hun fremdeles er sekretær og taster glad i veg på sin Remington skrivemaskin). I tomrommet etter Malla oppstod bandets unike spillestil, som er sterkt preget av Mallas tilnærming til scat sang og Leif Juster imitasjoner. Etter å ha reist land og strand rundt er bedårerne tilbake på LindySeilaset med brask og bram. See ya all on the dance floor folks!! Hiiii Haaa!!!!
